If the new power plants are built, it will make a bad situation worse. Coal burning power plants produce many different kinds of pollution, but mercury is the most dangerous for people and animals. Mercury is a heavy metal, and it is toxic to humans -- particularly children, even in small amounts.
 
You might be surprised to learn that coal burning power plants produce more mercury pollution in Georgia than any other source – more than 60% of the total. Coal power plants release mercury in fine particles into the atmosphere. Those particles return to earth with the rain and snow, entering ground water and wells. In this way, air pollution can easily become water pollution.
 
Once this pollution makes its way into streams, lakes, and even the ocean, it becomes part of the food chain. Little bugs in the water eat the decaying leaf matter and take up the mercury; little fish eat bugs, larger fish eat the smaller fish. It takes a while for the fish to get rid of the mercury after they eat contaminated prey, so this dangerous pollutant is building up in the fish. Since we tend to eat the bigger fish, we’re eating the fish and seafood with the highest levels of mercury.
 
South Georgia freshwater streams, such as the Ogeechee and Canoochee Rivers, have special water chemistry that converts this mercury into its most toxic form. So, even though these streams may look pristine, they are, in fact, heavily polluted with mercury from coal fired power plants.
 
Even low levels of mercury can cause serious nervous system damage, particularly in young children. Heavy metals can inhibit the development of the nervous system, causing learning disabilities, erratic and aggressive behavior, and lower IQ scores when they get older.Mercury poisoning has also been linked to mental retardation, blindness, and deafness. When pregnant mothers consume these toxins through contaminated water or fish, those toxins are passed on to the fetus. These toxins can also be passed through breast milk, effecting newborns as well.
 
That all sounds grim, and it is, but right now, with the exception of a few areas in coastal Georgia, it’s safe and healthy for adults and children to eat crabs, shrimp, flounder, and other seafood a few times a month. But if we want to keep it that way, we need to stop the spread of coal burning power plants in south Georgia.
 
 
There are three ways for Georgians to make a difference and protect their families from mercury.
 
Step#1: Get the facts about mercury pollution. The Georgia Environmental Protection Division has published comprehensive guidelines for how to eat local seafood safely.
 
Step #2: Conserve energy at home. If enough of us do our part, simple steps like turning the lights off in empty rooms or when leaving the house, or using energy-efficient light bulbs, add up to make a big difference in the amount of electricity that south Georgia uses -- and how many coal burning power plants we need. We can also reduce the amount of mercury that’s already making its way into the rivers and start to clean up mercury pollution.
 
Step #3: Send a message. The Ogeechee Riverkeeper, which is working to raise awareness about mercury poisoning in Georgia, has published an online energy saving pledge form. When people like us sign that pledge, we’re sending a message to electric utilities and environmental regulators that we’re going to do our part to keep local water clean and unpolluted -- and we want them to do theirs and deny the permits for the new power plants.
 
We like to think that south Georgia is a place where we can enjoy fresh air and clean country living. We want our children to grow up catching fish and eating seafood caught fresh from local waters.
 
Right now, there is a threat to those things, but it’s not too late to preserve them for future generations. Make a difference today! Get the facts, conserve energy at home, and send a message to power company and environmental regulators that you don’t want any more coal burning power plants in south Georgia.

It wasn’t by a huge number –  a little more than half (51%) picked “economy: and slightly less than half (45%) picked “environment.” The margin of error was 3%.
 
Pollsters love this question and they’ve been asking variations of it for decades. Here is how the question was worded this time around, in this particular environmental issues survey:
 
"With which one of these statements about the environment and the economy do you most agree — protection of the environment should be given priority, even at the risk of curbing economic growth, or economic growth should be given priority, even if the environment suffers to some extent?"
 
Until recently, majorities of Americans have consistently responded that the environment takes precedence. Sometimes a large majority, sometimes a small one, but always a majority. It was that way for decades. It’s only now, during this brutal, grinding recession, that the economy has inched ahead. And it’s not just this survey, it’s others. 
 
These poll results are disturbing, sure, but I think they are misleading, too.  There’s plenty of evidence out there that everyday citizens actually reject the basic premise of that question. When I sift through my extensive collection of environmental issue surveys, I find plenty of poll questions that explore Americans’ attitudes towards the environment and their wallets in more depth.
 
I think you can summarize the American public’s general attitude towards the environment and their wallets in three statements:
 
#1) “Environmental regulations and protection don’t burden the economy much”
As a general matter, when pollsters ask Americans if they believe that environmental regulation hurts the economy, the answer is usually “no.”  Here’s one example: In a 2005 study conducted by Yale University, more than 3/4 of those who responded agreed with this statement: “You don’t have to sacrifice environmental protection to get economic growth. The choice between jobs and environment is a false one: we can have both.”
Remember, most Americans work in various service industries now. Only a few of us work in mining, agriculture, commercial fishing, forestry, or other industries where environmental compliance is a daily hassle or expense. The businesses that feel the pinch directly are often very outspoken about it — but that is a minority view.
 
Statement #2: “Environmental regulations hurt some companies sometimes, but they can be good for the economy, too”
When EPA announced last week that it was cracking down on mountain top removal mining, West Virginia mining interests and politicians thumped the table, squealing about lost jobs and economic ruin. So you might be surprised that just a few years ago, almost half of West Virginians told pollsters they believed environmental protection are often good for the economy, and another quarter said they generally don’t have much impact. Only one in 5 reported that environmental protections were generally bad for the economy — and that’s in coal mining, tree cutting West Virginia.
 
I think most Americans instinctively understand that people and businesses avoid highly polluted areas, that medical costs associated with pollution-related illnesses are a drag on their families’ economic well-being, and that wasteful, polluting businesses are less competitive in the modern economy.
 
Statement #3: “Environmental regulations and protections may cause higher taxes”
Americans generally see that protecting the environment is a legitimate responsibility of government, and recognize that this costs money — their money. In a study conducted for Duke University’s Nicholas Institute a few years back, researchers found that voters were much more likely to believe that new environmental regulations and protections would lead to tax increases than to lost jobs.
 
So if everyday citizens are skeptical of the basic premise of the “environment vs. economy” poll questions, what do their answers to those questions tell us? Honestly, I’m not sure. And if everyday citizens are skeptical of the basic premise of this question, why do pollsters keep asking it this way, anyway? Again, I’m not sure.
 
But I think I’m on safe ground here: The economy is a disaster and few of us have escaped it completely. Everyday citizens want to see our nation’s leaders focusing their attention on getting the economy fired up and moving forward. Obviously, like any eBay auction, the seller must have a powerful listing with great pictures. This is always true regardless of what the merchandise is. Expensive collectibles offer splendid opportunities, but also need special precautions.

1. Price: decide the lowest amount you will accept for each figurine and set that price as a reserve. Then make your opening bid absurdly low - yes, absurdly.

Example: if you will accept $1,000 - make your opening bid $25. There is no risk in this, because you don't have to sell unless the bidding reaches $1000, but the low price attracts buyers, (assuming there is demand, of course).

Looking at completed eBay auctions allows us to track prices, Again and again we learn that starting the price where the seller hopes it will end is not a wise tactic.

For instance, a seller wants to get $750 for his figurine. An opening bid of $750 won't attract nearly as many buyers as an opening bid of $25 and - surprisingly - the lower bid almost always gets higher prices. There is some psychology at work with the cheap price. It may not make logical sense, but it's the reality of life on eBay.

2. Devote space in your auction listing explaining how you will pack your item to ensure safe transit. This is critically important because in the back of every buyer's mind is the dread of receiving a package that rattles. A collectibles buyer will inevitably be thinking of the hassle she will have to go through - and the possible loss of purchase price - if her item is broken. She needs to know that the seller has carefully considered this issue and has a solution.

3. For the protection of both of you, insist that the buyer pay for appropriate insurance. Don't allow this to be an option. You definitely do not want the liability of a broken collectible that costs hundreds of dollars. In fact, if a customer objects to paying for insurance, this might possibly be a red flag. A genuine collector is very eager to add to her collection and wants her figurine to be protected.

4. We can safely assume that every Internet buyer has heard stories of fraud on eBay and elsewhere on the Net. Therefore, anything you can do to prove the authenticity of your collectible is well worth your time. Is there a marking on the bottom? Do you have the original box or other container? Does it have a label? Is there a certificate of authenticity or an appraisal by a respected organization? If the answer to any of these is "yes", then be certain to emphasize your authenticity in your auction. Taking pictures of your proof is especially effective.

5. I don't suggest offering a guarantee except in the most general way - that is, you, the seller, are telling the truth about the product. Anyone bidding on a collectible is knowledgeable and therefore they know what they're buying so there should be no reason for a return. If someone expresses dissatisfaction and mails your merchandise back, there is every likelihood of it being broken. You do not want the hassle of trying to collect on broken merchandise or putting yourself into a litigious situation with someone who refuses to believe that the collectible was broken via return shipping.

Also, you don't want to take a loss on your eBay fees, which might be substantial if the price is high.

6. With a really expensive item, always offer the option of an escrow service - at the buyer's expense, of course. They may not take want this service, but make certain they have the option. You, of course, know that your merchandise is legitimate, but the buyer isn't so certain. eBay recommends an escrow service that is available to all members.

7. If you're willing to ship worldwide, you need to take special steps to protect yourself. In the US we have AVS (Address Verification System) which offers some protection. A very large portion of the fraud suffered by buyers occurs outside the United States and you are justified in protecting yourself. Losing the purchase price on a $5 item isn't such a big deal - but a $1,000 collectible absolutely does matter.

Your bank can advise you on the time it will take to verify foreign funds. Be certain to let any prospective buyer know in your auction that there will be a delay if they are outside of your country. Do not let your merchandise out of your hands until you are sure!

Ananda in his quest wants to stay on and know more about this mysterious girl. When Chenni comes to him in the night and reveals what she is, he is very shocked. He tries to enlighten her saying that her faith is all rubbish.

It is just a myth. He says that God cannot be offered what is not pure and touched. She is made to understand that whatever she has been doing all these years is no different from what a sex worker does. True she may not be doing it for a living but what she has been doing in her blind faith is no different. Then what is the answer. He says that she should lead a normal life. Get married and face life like any other person. But who will come forward in all the villages around to marry her knowing her past.

Chenni is prepared to go with Ananda if he can accept her. But Ananda is not bold enough to take the plunge. He succeeded in getting her out of her blind faith but is unable to give her an alternative. Next morning Chenni is missing. A search is on for her. Ultimately she is found dead on the steps of a temple pond. The entire village community looks at Ananda as the guilty one forgetting their own guilt of keeping Chenni an out cast. The mad soldier seems to be the only person who has been sympathetic to Chenni. Unfortunately it is too late.

The police arrive and declare that the whole episode as a case of suicide and there is no foul play. But to Ananda it is he who is the cause for Chenni's death. He accepts his guilt. Sadly, the U.S. didn’t get enough votes from other nations to put its proposal into action.
So what went wrong? The ocean protection community worked hard to to persuade voters the speak up on their issues. They know if voters pay attention to ocean protection, U.S. negotiators will work harder to get other nations behind conservation proposals. So the groups circulate press releases, distribute electronic petitions, ask their supporters to call elected officials on the phone, etc. This time around, it wasn’t enough.
In the wake of the disappointing bluefin vote at the U.N., I was curious about how the ocean community’s environmental communications efforts stack up to other conservation organizations. So I gave samples of their petitions to the Due Diligence Test Panel to review. The petitions were Oceana’s “Offshore Drilling is NOT the Answer to Energy Crisis” petition and Ocean Conservancy’s “Ask Your Representatives to Support Responsible Fish Farming” petition.
Compared other issue advocacy pieces that I have tested this way, these two ocean pieces earned basically average overall results. Oceana’s petition — which uses words that work like “clean” and “safe,” earned a 2.98 overall. The Ocean Conservancy’s petition, which uses shoptalk like “parasite amplification” and “benthic communities,” trailed slightly at 2.83. The average for all similar pieces I have tested so far is 2.83.
Where both groups fell short is convincing the test panel that signing one of these electronic petitions was a meaningful act. Here are some excerpts from the panelists’ feedback.
• “The Government is not likely to pay attention to one person.” • “It is likely, to me, that the congressperson with never even see my email, because his/her assistant checks the email.” • “It is difficult to imagine that a large enough of a population will act on this issue to really make a difference.” • “Is the president really going to see my little signature on some petition? Every time the test panel reviews a policy message from the environmental community — any issue, any group — many panelists respond by sharing these cynical and doubtful feelings. But they still came up short on their efforts for the bluefin tuna.
Which brings me to my broader point: until our community can raise the overall level of environmental communication we put out, we’ll probably come up short next time, too. That match was his first main event appearance at the famous Nippon Budokan. He soon faced Triple Crown Champion Stan Hansen in an unsuccessful challenge for the title, and would become the biggest star in Japanese pro wrestling for the next decade.

Hed have legendary battles against Kawada, Hansen, Kenta Kobashi, Jun Akiyama and Steve Dr. Death Williams in singles competition. Hed also become a force on the tag team scene along with Kawada facing Williams and Terry Gordy along with Tsuruta and Akira Taue.
